For it is good to be children sometimes- A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens - May 2015

The third installment in a series of works that researched the communal construction of identity. As a soloist I studied the construction of my memory and the role that others play in shaping my perception of my past self. Structuring the work in the same way that my memory of myself has been constructed, I utilized the perceptions and actions of those around me (the audience), physical objects that remain from my past, fragmented memories, journal entries, and writing from authors I admire to construct a collage image of myself deco-paged in confusing hues. Throughout the piece, a chosen audience member and I develop an inverse relationship to my past self: he or she becomes closer to my relics as I become a third party observer and destructive force.
